Unable to start king's indian attack - e4 taken

i have been trying to practice the king's indian attack, but every time i prepare it, the bot "wally" at 1800 completely prevents it by attacking my king's pawn on e4 (or by taking this space if i don't advance a pawn. Even where i defend it with queen's pawn d3 and knight to c3 or d2, the attack breaks down completely, or i am left with very little space to play any moves. Are there any ways of countering a queen's pawn attack on e4 with a pure king's indian?

Show us how those games started and we can tell you what you are doing wrong.

I looked at your most recent game, and you seem to be entering the line from an odd angle. Your Queen's Knight doesn't belong on c3 in the KIA... it goes to d2. The e4 move can be delayed until after you've castled, if you have trouble supporting it when played early.

Hey thanks for responding! Essentially i keep finding myself in the above position, or a similar one.  Even if i can get to the square one step earlier, If i take back with the pawn i find myself pretty pinned down on the queen file

Retake with the Pawn. Castle. Play c3. Bring the f1 Rook to d1. Play Nf1.

worked out how to use the PGN thing now - my problem is the bot is determined to take before i can castle

I still think your move order could be improved. If the opponent is playing for an early e5 you should consider playing g3 / Bg2 / 0-0 before playing e4.

Have you considered joining the KIA club? KIA inc. - Chess Club - Chess.com
