Please analyse this game.

It's surprising... this is one of the lowest rated players I've seen play the main line of Vienna Gambit. I've gone for the queen trade (which was excellent, but wasn't the best play: engine suggested a6 for White, 8. (bishop) xc6+ bxc6 9. queen to f2, bishop to e7). Should I continue playing the queen trade or go for what the engine says in this position? The queen trade is much easier to remember (and I am following Gotham's Vienna Gambit course) but the engine line is objectively better (even if harder to remember)

Some big mistakes... how can I shore up my midgame?

What?

For some positions the opponent can play excellent/best moves until at least move 10, at this level i actually have to start having a decent opening and tactics.

Queen trade or engine recommendation?

Old post but...

Yeah, queen trade is good as well.

The main issue is - You missed a huge game-winning tactic at move 16 - Nf7. So essentially it's a missed winning tactic that led to a losing game.

Yes, rarely a <1000 players can memorize an opening well, but then they would probably end up hanging piece or tactics.
