On the e file white can just interpose with it's own rook, can't it?
Nooo... 1...Re8 2.Re4 Qc2+ and white loses the rook - 3.Kf3 Qd3+-+

White can actually play 3.Ke3 instead of 3.Kf3 to hold onto the rook, but like I said it loses all advantages..
i woulda played Re8...and got tagged for a inaccuracy.
In computer terms, Re8 is not an inaccuracy, but a horrible blunder. It turns a +7 position into a -2 position, so it is roughly equivalent of blundering your queen, for nothing.
Oh yeah, what you said is correct. Sorry, my bad.
No worries.. It's not like I saw the whole line myself :')
I've checked with the engine analysis before answering @MisterWindUpBird 's question..

Yep.. Second best or third best moves aren't only inaccuracies if they're not good, they're considered blunders
The simple explanation: White can block the threat of infiltrating on the seventh rank after a move such as Re8 with Re4.
The not-so-simple explanation: After Rd8 g4 Rd2+, the White Queen is cut off by the Rook, allowing Qe1+ Qf2 ideas not possible in other lines.

As said before, White shouldn't block the threat with the rook though, but rather play g4 to hide the king. In general you're correct though, thanks..

That indeed stop Black's attack, but it also loses all advantages, because Black has Qc2+ forking the White King and rook. The only move that doesn't lose for White is Ke3. Black then will have a perpetual check I believe. Anyone, correct me if I'm wrong..
