Maybe because your opponent can play f5? I am not really sure.
Why Isn't This Move Brilliant?

Hello,
Today I played a game which I won with a queen sac. The engine said this move was the best move, but since it was a queen sac, I would expect it to be Brilliant!! or at least Great!. The definition of a Brilliant!! move is a move that is tricky to find. Isn't a queen sac tricky to find? For players my rating or higher it might have been a move that you could find. But compared to other moves that have been rated Brilliant!! by the engine, this move was trickier to find than some others. Here is the move I played:
and here is a move from one of my previous games that was rated Brilliant. I consider this move much more easy to find than the move above:
This seems... weird. Can someone please clarify?
Thanks,
@14isgreat
It says it doesn't get judged brilliant if you are already completely winning.
"Brilliant move" is a bright shiny object that really means nothing. A move is good or bad, strong, or weak. You win or you don't. It's silly to be obsessed by what some quickly coded computer code thinks is "brilliant."

In the words of Gotham: Chess.com only gives brilliant and great moves so you don't jump in front of a train.

If I had to give a reason I would say because the queen capture is not forced. Both f5 and Ne5 saves the king and the queen. Because your opponent did not see that it is more like a blunder on your opponent's part.

Holy crap you completely blew my mind with that amazing move. That was amazing I wish I could do something like that I'm just not the smartest and most strategic when playing Chess.

The move that was rated brilliant obviously isn't brilliant at all. Just a straightforward, obvious tactic. The computer probably thought you'd had enough brilliant moves recently. Anyway, regarding the game you're asking about, you can play the N check first and use that to win a whole queen, if you want to drag the game out a bit. I think you're right ... the correct sequence in the second game is probably slightly easier to spot. However, the point is that brilliant moves are really just a device to encourage interest. They don't mean anything, although there are a few criteria they have to fulfil. I lost 150 points at blitz the other day and now I'm getting lots of brilliant moves. The point is that they are given to people with lower ratings to make them feel better.
Thanks, this makes a lot of sense. I had three brilliant moves in the last three days and !! moves do seem like motivation. In the last few days I have played more than usual!

You just have to play more often! I also joined a year ago, but I have played over 5,500 games! Also try watching lessons and attempt more puzzles. You'll see quick progress! When I started a year ago, I was still at around 200 level!

Your queen sac is not brilliant because the checkmate is pretty straightforward (it's a depth=2 move). But for your level, it should be tagged as a great move for sure. It isn't easy to find.
The second example could be brilliant! It depends on the resulting endgame. If 20 moves in, it appears that your a-pawn is unstoppable, it turns out your sacrifice was indeed brilliant. Thing is, I don't see the follow-up. But perhaps the engine does. So it's possibly a depth 20-30 brilliancy leading to a forced win. If you can see that, that's brilliant.
It's usually the less visible moves, the subtle shifts in the position, that are the true brilliancies, rather than the spectacular strikes.
