Thanks for reposting that. It has been several months since it was last posted. You should have noted that it was based on a 100 year old composition by Sam Loyd.

No, it was a study. You don’t actually have to make a game that make sense.

only double pawn move is c4 vs c3. d4 is impossible (as you stated) but e4 is impossible too.
