No I was playing for canada in a match, and canada won, canada was playing black.

Good job! Chess is a game about seeing mistakes before your opponent does, and you did that:)

Thank you very much ! I appretiate it. Do you guys have any other questions before the end of the lesson ?

FireAndLightz

How did Canada won after that position? ( endposition )

SebLeb0210

The power of Canada !

FireAndLightz

I guess it ended with ice cold moves. Canada, Ice cold ;)

-waller-

Shouldn't you put your Chess Mentor rating on the puzzle instead? That's your highest one.

@Sebby, you should pay your students to give them lessons.  Your pedagogy is torture.

When I lived in Manitoba for a year, the winter months were exactly how I imagine the surface of Mars. Canada is cool, tho. Smile

SebLeb0210

Yeah Canada is probably the best place in the world to live at.

There's not a lot to get. It doesn't make sense.

I agree with zborg lol. And seeing this "lesson" I am shocked he even has a 1500 rating here on chess.com.

Okay... Sebleb, Re1 was a mistake.  The little 'tactic' you came up with may or may not have some merit.  The point is, you being a self-described coach should be teaching your 'students' that instead of white playing Re1 like a fool, he should have played Rad1, illustrating the pressure on d5.  Sure, you can play your king up again and try to protect it, but c4 just adds more pressure and pretty much a forcing win for white.   And, playing a move like c6 to protect it leads to Qb7+ Kd6 (because any other king move leads to forcing the black king to e8 and then white can just play Rfe1 to win the queen.  So anyway, Qb7+ Kd6 Bb8+ Kc5 Bc7.... And black is toast.

The lesson SHOULD have been that playing d5?? was a massive tactical blunder that loses the game.  Stop passing bad habits to chess players who are new to the game.  Focus on your game, then worry about trying to teach people who don't know any better.

I'm not very good, but am I missing something obvious? In the beginning White is up a full rook, exchanges queens and throws away his bishop, and still has material advantage at the end  (B vs. R), but loses?

...d5 isn't a "tactic", it's a blunder.   After ...d5 it seems to me like White should just exchange queens directly and work down to a K + R vs. K endgame.

This just looks like Black played badly and got away with it.  There's no "lesson" here.

Well it seems like there are many candidate moves here. But the move that I put in to my engine later on was the same that is here.
