Actually there are some kids or people that are 2700-3000 on chess.com but only 2200 on tournaments just because they don't compete enough so it depends it would be unlikely but it could actually happen

I think dramatically underrated players coming up suddenly out of the woodwork is going to become steadily more common moving into the future and more players will be attaining their titles via tournaments. Perfectly valid.

I think dramatically overrated players coming up suddenly out of the woodwork is going to become steadily more common moving into the future and more players will be attaining their titles through the loophole FIDE created via tournaments instead of actually earning their GM title through rating norms. Perfectly valid. "We must have a GM from every country" for the sake of diversity. Damn the standards that would prevent that.

Even if Gukesh loses it is only a matter of time before some teenager becomes world champion. It is unbelievable how many kids are becoming grandmasters.

Nowadays, becoming a grandmaster is extremely far away from becoming a world champion. When Fischer was a kid, he became GM when he qualified for the Candidates, and he was one of the best players. Nowadays, a fresh GM might be the outside the top 1000.

Ratings inflation has devalued the GM title quite a bit.

I have a different opinion on that. I believe a GM title is for life. So that mean out of the 1700ish grandmasters in the world there is probably a large percentage that are way past their prime. But also a lot of young ones like you said.

I would think becoming a GM would pretty much automatically get someone into the top 1000, since so many GMs are not that good anymore. It would also be interesting to find out how many people in the top 1000 are not even GMs.

Ding plays defensively and has good offense. He keeps the game balanced, though Gukesh’s Aggresiveness might help him. I’d say Gukesh’s Aggresiveness will help him grind down the pieces, then get checkmate. In all, I’d say Gukesh will win.

The chess.com Youtube edits convinced me that Gukesh is going to win.

Bogopawn657

GUKESH WILL ROMP HOME, HE IS TOUGH TO BEAT, VERY TALENTED BE TOO STRONG FOR DING, WHY...SIMPLE DING WHEN HE PLAYED NIPPO PLAYED VERY OPEN ATTACKING GAME, GUKESH STYLE OF PLAY IS TACTICALLY MORE SOLID AND WILL TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE (OF COURSE DING MAY YET DECIDE TO NOT RISK DEFENDING, AND HOLD ONTO SOME THREAD OF CHESS HISTORY!!?)
