1500 Daily Rating- Achievable or Unrealistic?

Hello everyone! My Daily Rating is now about 1350 and I would like to know whether my goal of 1500 by the end of 2021 is achievable or too unrealistic.

Here's my 1-year rating chart (I didn't play during July-September because I was busy):

Please let me know what you honestly think! Thanks happy.png

Depends on how you play Daily and how many games you can get in by the end of the year, but it's certainly possible.

Its easy to be honest . But the thing is don't play too many. I started too many games and now I just cant focus.

JackRoach

It's definitely possible

Average daily rating on the site is around 200 points higher than rapid for instance. For instance my daily is 50 -100 points higher than my rapid, but I didn't even play too much daily games (because when I play daily games it consumes a lot of time for me), I am pretty sure I can get it higher than this simply by playing those games more.

What I want to say is that if you don't play too many daily games and don't rush with them, I am sure you can get that rating a lot sooner than till the end of year. You could probably get it to at least 1 600 if you set your mind to it and don't just blitz out moves. Your rapid is around 1 500, bullet over 1 700 and blitz around 1 450. All of that should be a bit tougher to achieve than 1 500 daily.

noice its almost midnight here

Well, it *would* be achievable on the old chess.com. Unfortunately, the site has been flooded with cheats and people purposely playing well below their rating so they can have favorable tournament pairings.

I can't really blame the site for this, but the reality is that the community is a dumpster fire of scumbags and trolls now.

Thanks everyone! I certainly hope I reach my goal happy.png I'm playing about 20 concurrent games now...

happy.png Of course it's possible

I've beat 1644 rated players before, and their rating is above 1500, so defenitely its possible

It's even possible to beat someone who has a rating waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay higher than yours

Game_of_Pawns

What you have now, 20 games at 48/72hs per move is about the sweet spot for number of games to keep, in my opinion.

Have things really changed that much here in the last five years? Your blitz rating is 1500. Having a blitz rating of 1500 and a daily of 1350 is incomprehensible to me. Five years ago, a 1500 blitz player could literally blitz out their moves in daily and have at least a 1500 rating in that too.

Should be easy. You are 1500 in Blitz and Rapid which requires more skill than daily in my opinion. Just spend more than 10 seconds on each move...

I know that, but I’m talking about increasing rating. Several wins doesn’t bring you that far... but thanks for the encouragement wink.png

Are you sure? I don’t really agree, imo daily is the most accurate test of playing strength.

Thanks. I may be slightly underrated in daily and overrated in blitz... and I don’t play so much daily so yes happy.png thanks for the insightful post!

Well, in a 15 10 game you really have to play chess, and if you are not good at tactics or don't know the right plan you will get into trouble. Both players have the same condition, so the better player will usually win.

Daily is basically a time/resource odds game. A lot depends on how much time/energy you are willing to invest.

Are you willing to check the database in the opening move by move and to go through the resulting middle game positions of the model games?

Are you willing to analyse the board for an hour or two in a complicated position in order to find a winning continuation, or do you just spend 2 minutes on it because you have better things to do?

Also, being tactically sharp and being able to imagine the board without moving the pieces is crucial in chess. In daily you can reduce your blunders by simply shuffling your pieces around.

Game_of_Pawns

I agree ^

If you want to know how good at chess somebody is just by looking at their chess.com profile, there are two numbers you should look at. Blitz rating and Rapid rating. Nothing else on the page has any significant meaning.
