Only if both players want it to be. I promise you it’s very possible to have interesting Caro-kann games.

I’m not at all a positional player, i wouldn’t play the carokann if it was dull.

I played Caro Kann, but I'm going to switch to the Sicilian.

I think it's just too slow and absolutely not dynamic

#23 yes, but it depends on the other player. In the Sicilian, it's always exciting.

Is it? Your opponent chooses the alapin. Suddenly they have all the fun and your position is dull….

#27 I haven't played a game yet with the Alapin, but you'll see, I'll blow the board against the Alapin too. I can break the London system too, so I can break the Alapin too.

London is easy to make interesting, just play an early c5 lol. I have a close friend who’s a real openings buff - as in faces something new and immediately learns all the associated theory - and he’s a Sicilian player. He finds the alapin so tricky to find some interesting lines against that he plays it himself as white now… it’s a proper “only white is having fun here” sort of opening

#29 hahaha if something like that existed against the Sicilian no one would play it lol

how have you not played an alapin game if you are a sicilian player?

It’s by no means an instant win, nothing wildly played is, but I imagine if you asked most Sicilian players what their least favourite white approach is, I think you’d get an awful lot of votes for the alapin.

Anyway, my point was that any opening is only as interesting as the people in the game want it to be. Take the Berlin - one of the most-used openings to get a quick draw at the top level - but if one of them doesn’t want to, it can get plenty interesting…

As Fischer said: "Tactics flow from a superior position.". How do you achieve a superior position? Strategy. Space, center control, active pieces. Blah... Blah... Blah.

I hope he plays 1. e4 c5 2. c3 d5. Nothing else is an attempt to win.

I like playing against it and my ECF is 1965 last time I looked. So I get decent opposition. Black just has to be careful and make EVERY move count. White has to play perfectly to draw.

I don't know what slang youre talking about. I'm a kid so I know all the slang. No one says lol when something is actually funny. So I don't know why you and steph curry keep acting like the other person is a stand up comedian. I really can imagine you and steph sitting in your basement with a mad look on your face while typing lol just to ragebait the other. Also for what steph curry was talking about that the alapin is a dry opening for black, its obvious that bro knows nothing about any of the sharp lines black can play and just uses his friend as a final source of wisdom.
