2025 FIDE World Rapid & Blitz: Official Discussion Thread

The 2025 FIDE World Rapid & Blitz Championships take place December 26-30, with a €1,000,000 prize fund across four championship events.

Events determine the world's Rapid and Blitz champions in both Open and Women categories.

Format for the Rapid championships is Swiss, with the Open having 13 rounds and the Women having 11 rounds respectively. There might be playoffs if two or more players tied for first.

Format for the Blitz championships is Swiss + Top 4 players single elimination knockout bracket finals, with the Open having 19 rounds and the Women having 15 rounds respectively.
