on the issue of centaur-chess/advances-chess/human+computer-chess.
Nowadays I play more on a primarily centaur chess site [correspondence] - but it is not necssarily the best engine that counts. A quote from said site: "the best player is not the human with the best computer, but the computer with the best human.
I suppose there is where we differ.
In response to LITTLEMAN as to why I did this in the first place....JEEZ, that'd take a loooong time to relate for those who don't know (You must be the only one who doesn't know or haven't been following me). In short, it was a test of my computer program.
Second, let's ASSUME that I am a troll. Let's ASSUME that I need attention and make posts ONLY to get people to respond. Let's assume that I am a consumate LIAR and a despicable human being. Ok, that's out of the way. My question is: Why oh why do the people on this site form a HUGE line, waiting to throw food to the troll? Why oh why do people form a long snaking line like the kind you find a Disney World waiting to "Ride The Troll"? Why oh why do people gravitate to me if I am such a horrible person? Help me understand. SOMEONE!

Bobobbob, good question. I found that in 1 and 2 minute games, Chessmaster 10 is actually STRONGER than Fritz 10. Fritz handily beats chessmaster in all other types of games, but the settings that I use for chessmaster somehow make it quite strong at 1 and 2 minute games. Not even Rybka Beta can generate a winning score in 50 - 2 minute games with chessmaster.
I am DISAPPOINTED. Here are the results from My program vs. chessmaster in 50 - 2 minute games: 13 wins, 23 losses, 14 draws for a score of 20-30. BEFORE the upgrade the score was 23.5-26.5. It seems I am going backwards. The only good point is that these are only 2 minute games and I'm in the early stages of the upgrade. It's the 40/120 games that I'll be concerned with.
