Kinetic energy = 1/2mv^2

My question: as m is measured in grains, and v in feet per second. What does the resulting number measure.

That is, 240 grain projectile at 650 fps = 50,700,000 what?

Use civilized units.

1 grain-foot^2/s^2 = 2 x 10^-5 Kg-m^2/sec^2 = 2 x 10^-5 Joules
