I was a bit tilted this morning, I at least got a pretty cool brilliant move : Bd3, only move giving white a slight advantage, and then my opponent selled the game a bit because of time pressure
A General Chess Discussion Thread?
I have a new chess format idea- before a match grandmasters get to ban openings just like they ban certain characters in eSports like Brawl Stars and LoL and then they play as usual
That would honestly be interesting, like they would play something other than e4 d4 c4 or nf3….
Grob only challenge
question:
why do really high elo players have low daily ratings and low elo players like me have higher daily ratings
like then I think “ah yeah, this guy’s gonna be easy to beat” and then I get destroyed by someone who’s rapid is 1900 or smth
can anyone relate
Because nobody plays daily. I don't like how youre allowed to look at the opening database during games. What's the point

that’s true I don’t play daily much either, i just accept most challenges
High rated players prefer spending their time in live chess while lower rated players feel good with a higher rating prob

I'm currently playing someone whose rapid rating is 1300 points higher than their daily rating, I'm not being destroyed so far, but yeah I can relate.
Do you guys play worse after you eat? Also do you play better after you exercise or take a shower?
I don't really know, I just play chess when I feel like it so I am often in a good mood. But it's sure that eating healthy, staying fit, sleep well and take care of hygiene is necessary to play better.
Also I often play at lunch break in my high school and sometimes I play bad, but I also think it's because where I eat is very noisy.
I wouldn't be surprised if people play worse after eating as your digestive system is in action, which consumes energy and makes you tired. Taking a shower often relax and can help with chess, but it can also make you sleepy if the water is too hot, which is not good in chess. Same for exercising, it can bring energy and make you more focus, but too hard exercise will make you tired, and your performances will likely go down.
So I think it depends, but overall you should just play when you are feeling like it.
I just hit 2000 blitz with a new opening, the Nimzowitsch Larsen Attack! Might make a guide on it at this rate!
I would have loads of brilliancies, except chess.com is unreasonably prejudiced against my crap chess.

And you clowned on it when I played it…. Tsk tsk tsk…. “Wannabe alekhine……” is what you said tsk tsk tsk, was the opening that won me eleven games in a row and you clowned on it but now who’s laughing….

If it's a variant as Fisher chess I am fine with it
