Just found this thread.  This dude has a 1300 rapid rating and 1500 daily. Pretty much my own ratings and I will confirm that I suck!

He is bragging about draws with stock fish and playing at 3200 level.  If this was all true, why can't he play a decent game of chess against a human? Am I missing something?

I think he is a troll and a liar and the fact that drmrboss is here cheering him on pretty much confirms my point.

The most exciting challenge in chess in 2020.

Stockfish doesn't play 5.c3 there.

5.c3 is not a mistake according to analysis. And it moved c3, I can't change the past.

Another thing is that the elo performance at the oppening for stockfish is 3500 elo. If something went wrong it wasn't in the oppening.

I have stockfish too you know... I can check what it plays.

I guess I'm changing my opinion of this topic, OP isn't being serious,  just having fun with us, ok.

@drmrboss

Are you a real doctor or did you crawl out from under a bridge?

Avatar of llama44

@drmrboss seems to rub a lot of people the wrong way, but he posts seriously when he feels like it, and can meme when he feels like it. My kind of guy.

I think people judge him too quickly.

Avatar of llama44

For example, he seemed to realize this guy was a troll sooner than most (or at least sooner than me). So he just has fun with the topic.

That's not being a troll, that's being aware of his surroundings.

Well, if someone thinks I'm trolling, or I'm a liar, I challenge him to invite me to his home, watch that I'm not carrying any device, and in one week I will get a draw to stockfish in his computer (or maybe a win). This challetenge is for real.

My rating is so low in chess.com because it's not practical spending so much thinking energy like I'm spending vs stockfish. If I have to spend the same time-energy for every match I'm playing in chess.com I would need a century to raise my rating. Even many times I have moved in my daily matches at 3,00 a.m. after a hard day, being sleepy and tired, just because I feel like having fun. I don't play vs stockfish when I feel sleepy or tired.

Here are this two games. Two draws. Anyone is invited to apply statistical cheating software to them, they will see I didn't cheat.

If I would want to troll someone, It would be a win, not a draw. And it wouldn't take me 9 months to do it.

Plus this challtenge is "a newbie trying to beat sf". So, nobody should be surprised at my low rating.

Any newbie can do it if he does what I'm doing. Just try it:

1) Train your visualization to see at least 25 moves ahead with no problem.

2) Study some strategy books. At least the most fundamental ones.

3) In 9 months you will get at least two draws (Play relentlessly, and never give up despite the lack of faith by many people around you).

You are invited to post here those matches and we will analyze them.

If you are already a GM, skip step 2.

the fact you think the brain is more than just neurons firing is what undermines your whole argument. you are saying intuition is calculation millions of moves a second, it is not. intuition is recognizing similar situations and playing similar moves. there is no such thing as a "spirit" at least in the mentioning of the human brain. Sure, scientists do not know everything about the human brain, but that is partially because they cannot experiment on a live brain without crossing serious moral boundaries. no, the top humans cannot beat the top computers, it is not that they have some mental block. This is a ridiculous topic and it is clear you are looking for attention and are rather immature.

You yourself are saying "scientist don't know everything about the human brain", so my idea that we also think with our spirit not restricted by neurons can be totally true.

Unfortunatelly in ww2 "scientists" (better to call them monsters), with no moral restrictions, were experimenting with live brains and they were unable to unravel its mysteries.

If intuition is just about recognizing similar situations, how do you explain kis beating GMs, like Magnus Carlsen beating Kasparov when he was a kid??

That fact, and other kids beating adults, completly show us that intuition is much more than just "experience" that recognizes similar situations (because adults played maaaany more matches than kids). Intuition is a mystery that could come from our spirit (or be closely related with it).

If any of this is true, then you are obviously much better at playing engines than I am. I’ve been playing against chess engines since 1989, and I’ve won a few games and drawn a few more. My last draw against a decent engine from the starting position was against Hiarcs 8 in 2008 and it was forced to play the Dutch Defense.

OTOH, my lowest blitz rating in 22 years of consistent online blitz across dozens of sites is higher than your current rating. My lowest correspondence rating across more years than that, and more sites (and postcards before that) is the rating they give you before you play a game.

Obviously, I have much to learn from your superior approach to the game.

Stockfish doesn't play always the same move in the opening. Try again and it will suggest another move. Unless you installed some opening book or you did something I don't know. I didn't touch that setting.

Thank you for your post. That just proves what I'm saying, that humans can beat chess engines. I'm not the only one.

I don't think I have a "superior approach to the game", but it's possible that I may have superior patience and flame-moral-hope (don't know how to call it) to the game. It's not easy to be beaten by a machine month after month, hearing the whole world saying that it's impossible, and keep trying harder and harder each time, never give up.

Ah, so you are TwistOrStay? the one who used stockfish against me in a 30 minutes match? heheheh. I almost beat you. (Well, I almost beat your stockfish, I mean wink.png).

Obviously I set it to show me its top 3 moves and I noted things like depth, thinking time, and the difference in eval between the top 3.

You can try to make excuses, but that's not one of them.

But even then, the whole "I drew SF" isn't believable in the first place.

Avatar of p8q

My computer clearly suggests c3

This whole coronavirus thing (the whole world stay confined at home) isn't believable, and it's happening.
