A rule technicallity or software bug....?

In a recent game on here ( standard 30 minute live ) a postion was reached where both I and my opponent were left with just King & Knight each.

I expected the computer to auto draw the game , it didnt and the clocks kept ticking.

I thought it a bit odd , so i offered a draw even though i was ahead on time.

My opponent being a clutz of the highest order , refused and wanted to continue play , so we had a farcical endgame of nearly 100 moves of high speed spite checks and random piece shuffling in less than 7 mins.

I only continued with this daft caper as i thought a winner / loser outcome was still possible otherwise the game would have auto-drawed , right ? and i was ahead on time anyway...

So once my opponents clock ran out first and the game ended , the outcome announced was " game drawn - insufficiant material " !!

well thats just dandy lol.

So could checkmate have been legally delivered with K+N vs. K+N ?

thanks , i thought of some such position , just considered its likelyhood and the moves leading upto it , extreme in the least.

Guess I'm just not fortunate enough to find an opponent that bad.

so youve delivered that exact same checkmate yourself in a live game in the 1300+ ratings range at some point then ?

it's just that there's only one position where it's theoretically possible. if the king is anywhere else besides trapped in one of the corners with it's knight sitting right next to it, then it's not possible. and there's no way to force a person into that mating position (like you can with King vs King Bishop and Knight) they would have to willingly put their king in the corner and then willingly put their knight next to the king at the exact time when you can deliver mate.
