No, when it's a rating, it's Elo too (or actually, FIDE, USCF, etc). It's just that there are a lot of ignorant people who think it's an acronym and spell it "ELO".

There are many chess clubs in .nl with oldfashioned acronyms as their names, e.g. MOT (Moed Overwint Tegenstand / Courage Defeats Resistance), merged with Vriezenveen to form VriMOT; ENO (Ernst Nut & Ontspanning / Seriousness, Use and Relaxation), SOPSWEPS (Samen Op Reis Spelen Wij Een Potje Schaak / Travelling Together We Play a Game of Chess) etc etc.
But the football clubs have us beaten. TONEGIDO means "Tot Ons Nut En Genoegen Is Deze Opgericht" -- "to our use and joy was this one established", and professional side NAC is the NOAD ADVENDO Combination, result of a merger, where NOAD means Nooit Opgeven Altijd Doorgaan (Never resign, always continue -- please don't comment) and ADVENDO means Aangenaam Door Vermaak En Nuttig Door Ontspanning -- pleasant through entertainment and useful through relaxation.
On a completely different note, I've heard it said that one of the biggest problems in computer science since the 80s is the lack of available TLAs.
