Aggressive vs Defensive: Which is the Better Choice?

Sort:
TheChessWarlord_1206

Here is an old question for chess players... Is being aggressive better than being defensive? First here will be an example of Aggressiveness vs Defensiveness... (White is Aggressive, Black is Defensive.)

In the game above, Aggressiveness beats Defensiveness. But there may be other versions of the story. Post your own games below featuring either the Aggressive side or the Defensive side winning. Enjoy and comment below happy.png (Please no criticizing)

So you don't understand Chess, interesting. Haven't you red Steinitz quotes regarding attack? Usually once side doesn't decide to defend but it is forced to.

Yiou play the best move you can find regardless.

For me it depends on my mood and how inebriated I am. And I suck and play 5m so I tend to stick to solid and wait for my opponent to blunder. Happens a ton at my 1200-1300 range. But sometimes you just gotta drag your opponent into Tal's jungle and hope you're the one to stay on that path.

Passive-aggressive.

Aggressive all the way, is the way.

The best offense is the best defense. Of course you have to be careful when attacking and not get mated or let your opponent gain a huge material advantage.

Writers of articles on this site mentioned many times that choosing whether to play "aggressively" or "defensively" is almost never a choice you make. You have to play logical moves and avoid blunders first of all and the rest usually happens on its own.

When one player is on the offense then the other player is on the defense.
