Ah yes, the average player has a MUCH higher rating than 1762

You have to wait for it to update correctly. This is a common bug and also happened to me when I started playing. It happens when you enter the active pool or something. Not sure what causes it but I sent support an email regarding it when I joined and it just takes time for it to update.

I tried to follow your advice and I waited around 3 minutes for one of the profiles to update, I refreshed the page a few times as well. It did update, but it said that the person had gone a few down in the global section and left them at the same percentile. I think the system believes they are at that percentile as the global seems to back the percentile up. I have also noticed that all the profiles that have this problem do not seem to be very active. For example they have very few friends, if any. They don't have pfps and they usually don't have any points either (not rating but activity points) I am not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I don't know.

Nah, I mean it takes days sometimes. I had to wait quite awhile.

Well my original screenshot was taken months ago, I had recently found it while going through my photos and decided to check if it was still around. When I found it was I decided to make this thread. That same person that I had originally taken a screenshot of their stats still has this glitch on their profile. Here is a screenshot of it still not being fixed for them:
Maybe it takes longer for some profiles to update than others? I don't know, but this glitch seems odd as for some people it never happens to them

Well in rapid I’m in the 99.7% so assuming they reverse that with this bug I’d be in the 0.3%

I'd have to see the account to know more... there is no real reason to hide it. But that is strange that it stays that way.

well, then I'm 0%...

Huh... I read that as you are in the top 5.3% of people... Are you telling me that chess.com usually does it in the reverse? >.>
I am confused.

Yes, chess.com normally does it the reverse of what is demonstrated here, and that is the usual meaning of percentile as well. That is, 94.7 percentile means "above 94.7% of the population." So, 5.3 percentile means "above 5.3% of the population." Certainly you could intend it the other way, but that would not be the normal usage of the word.

You totally are. In fact, you are # 9249 out about 57 million. Even if quite a few are probably not active. You are elite, dude!

I just play for enjoyment, my Elo rating is quite meaningless for me at present

For me, it's working quite nicely.

What were you expecting? That the bug is still not fixed after more than 2 years?
