Αgainst neurotic chess!

In life, the neurotic will try to live up to his expectations, even if reality contradicts his or her behavior openly.

In chess, the neurotic will play as he wishes, even if a sensible evaluation of a  given position would counter-prove  his ''style'' as utterly unsound on occation.

A well known example of succesful neurotic chess is that of Alexander Morojevich. The fact is that outside the board Morojevich is said to be more or less ''cool''.On the other hand,a great lot of chessplayers, even up to master-level ones, are ''unsuccesful neurotics''.Being a sensation seeker and compulsive at the same time,a player of that kind will follow his instinct no matter what, both onboard and outside of it.

Lateraly speaking, this situation asks for everyday treatment, such as:

-Day to day sharpening of positional intuition within chess and beyond

-Formal training  with a psychologically wise martial-art instructor

-Active participation in team sports on a regular base

-Moderate occupation with extreme sports and unconventional thinking or behavior

Perhaps these are good ''action principles'' for any player, don't you think?

My bishops bite their fingernails, my knights do the polka at inappropriate times and my king and queen (CENSORED). I guess I'm in favor of neurotic chess.

Looks like another dandy self-help book is on the way...

Just do like Kasparov always did throughout his reign: establish your own company and play the appropriate opponents only to reign for 15 years, but get out of the way of Kramnik !
