Brand new to chess, I've literally been playing for only a week. Against real players, I hover around the 400-500 range, but I consistently beat bots 1000+ and even have beaten a 1300 a few times. It seems like the mistakes that a bot makes are much easier to spot than a mistake that a human would make.
Are Bot's ratings accurate?

I've only been playing a couple weeks and I just broke 400 against people (I'm 52 so not a fast learner). But I did beat bots from 1000 to 1300 ( not consistently but at least 1/2). I'm thinking its probably better to just play people. The bots play brilliantly some moments and then give you free gifts. A 1300 bot had my queen forked and then chose to not take? not very realistic.

I've beaten David(1400). You can read a review of how to beat advanced bots here:

I've beaten Nelson, Wilson, Elena, Maria, but have a tough time with Sven. I beat him with white but not black.

Congrats for your win.... And am at the same range lol....just can't find a way to go beyond my rating
yeah congrats

The bot's ratings are seriously weird. My highest rating is 600 yet I beat Antonio a 1500 rated bot. I felt like I was a chess master after that and proceeded to instantly lose a blitz game.

The bots don't play like humans. They tend to make random mistakes in random positions. So even though they are labeled as '1500' rated, in reality, they don't play like a 1500 rated human.
Humans play like humans, computers play like computers. Thats why you might easily beat a 1500 rated bot but struggle with a 1500 rated human.

I agree with the GM. I am a beginner and found all the bots until Wally fairly easy to beat. I though Nelson to be the easiest of all, which is weird. Learn the Wayward Queen and a few other overly aggressive o moves and he is easy to beat. Each “personality” bot tends to play similar openings and moves so I learned quickly how to beat them with a little analysis. I don’t get the people claiming they can’t find a bot that can beat them. Really, are you all dominating the 3200 rated CPU that has no personality quirks added? I am much better against Isabel than the 1600 rated CPU. Scroll past the people icons... I wish I knew how good I was against real people on a board. COVID was the wrong time to start learning.

Also I am not a GM, so I may play anywhere from 95% accurate to 30% accurate depending on a few bonehead blunders like not noticing the pawn that takes my rook, whether I am able to concentrate at that time, how fast I play, etc. I’m serious. I can give some good games and some bad ones. The bot is probably thinking “what is with these humans rated 400 that are beating me occasionally?” LOL.

I find all the 1100 to 1300 bots to be similar. Sven 1100 is harder than Nelson 1300. But I'm having a lot of trouble with the 1400s. They seem to really up their tactical ability at that level. I tried playing with the tools to see what the best moves would look like but don't always understand the computers' best moves. Sometimes they leave a good piece hanging in favor of a better position don the road which I can't see.
I'm 550 rated on blitz and I can beat 1100 bots easily and managed to win the 1400 bots as well. So, I don't think their rating are accurate.

Yeah I’m kind of in the same lane I’ve been stuck at 1100 for almost a week now but I have beaten 1300-1200 players when I played the bot I played a 1400 first and one than I tried the 1500 bot and still won it was playing decent up until the endgame idk what the deal is with these bots but human players are much harder especially in longer time controls like 30min etc
When I played the bots below 1100, I would move up every couple of days with no assist. Now its like a brick wall, So with bots Im rated around 1000. In the real world I hover around 500 with few games played and always won by some method other than putting the opponent in checkmate.
