The things you Yanks worry about. It´s ok to carry guns and kill or maim people in "self defence", but swearing is a no go.
Are Fbombs allowed now in the general forums?

If we're linking to topics where Harisha837 have behaved badly, then we'd better be ready to find every topic he's ever posted in.

It's an upside down world over here! rofl

Maybe V3 will bring an easier way to report bad language. I have reported a few users who were obviously trying to get thrown off the site, but the casual use of such language seems now so common that it doesn't seem to be worth the effort of filling out a report.
You guys put to much faith in V3

Just a word ? Racial slurs and hate speech are also only words ... understand now ?
No, I don't. Maybe the reason is that you are mixing two different things up.
One thing is swear words, like a person saying "I had a [swear word] bad day."
The other one - the racial slur you mentioned - is an insult. Insulting a person is forbidden by law in most countries and therefore a completely different thing than cursing the bad day one had (which is only against the perceived code of behaviour called political correctness, not against the law).
As I said before, I am not a swearing person myself, but I find the fact people seem scared of the word hilarious. I do NOT condone insulting others, however, and I am against hate speech of any kind...understand now ?
Yeah, and swear words are Never insults

Are you saying that when people claim self-defense, they are really the aggressors?

Naa, his point is that sometimes they aren't an insult. Doesn't have to be never.
When used as an intensifier (f-ing awesome day today) it can even be a positive expression.

And if you are in the ghetto, racial slurs can be considered positive.

Sure, so language needs context.
So I guess the argument would be that in a forum setting, there's too little context, and bad language is too easily seen as offensive. Especially with all ages involved.
I can agree with that.

You just can't admit that there's no logical reason for "swear" words to be considered immoral. Obviously there's a huge difference between a racial slur and an f bomb. One exists because of hatred and the other exists because German was considered a dirty language by some rich people a long time ago.

"there's too little context"
Which is why sarcasm is hard to dectect. I can't tell how many times I got screamed at. lol

Extra info: The F bomb does not only come from germany but also Norway and Sweden. The cool thing is there is actaully 5 different meanings and spellings

I thought "f-bombs" were family friendly. They were never shied away from in my family anyway.

V3 has been around the corner for what, a year now?
a) immaturity;
b) lack of intelligence in expressing yourself;
c) no class.
(...)Do I think my children are "saints"? Nope. Do I think they use that language? Yup. But that does not mean that we should abandon trying to teach them how to be civilized in their communication skills.
(...)That exactly. Swearing is banned not because children or delicate persons would be shocked to learn new words, but to uphold some standards.
Experience shows that those who cannot refrain from profanity in their expression usually cannot refrain from personal attacks and other trollish behaviour. Of course, some trolls are very polite*, but filtering still increases the signal to noise ratio.
*From Graham's How to disagree: "A comment like "the author is a self-important dilletante" is really nothing more than a pretentious version of "u r a f*g."."

No it won't. We need to realize that v3 is not going to fix everything and cure all problems. In fact I believe it will be same site with the same problems, just a different format
