So men are generally better at chess than women are... Women are better at many other practical things. So what? Such is Life. Enjoy it.

I so hate being the bearer of bad news but, that too is a fallacy. Although, I would love to give women credit for qualities they don't own. It simply is not true. Men's analytical and pragmatic sense of mechanical objects come from our survival instincts. Not that women don't own survival instincts they are not as mechanically inclined. If you want women to be better than men at something consider this. Their finger dexterity is better.

I used to try and lie to women but I was caught red-handed.

My wife asked me once, "does this dress make me look fat?" My dumb-ass replied, " Honey you would look good if you wore nothing at all. At this, she scoffed, "F-ing PiG!"

I saw this thread and had to go to the end. I have not read all the post but I had to add this. My ex would play chess with me even though she was not all that interested in chess. I remember one game we played where I got her queen and thought I could not lose. Then she took me apart with two knights working in conjunction. It was the most amazing chess I had ever seen. 

She was very intuitive. I was very analytical. It was not unusual for intuitive to kick analytical butt.

We also use to play a game called Mastermind. She came up with an approach to Mastermind that was incredibly effective. She always out-played me in Mastermind also. 

So, are men better at chess. I think men maybe play more chess, and take it more seriously. But I have played a woman who had much less experience than me and just found a way to beat me on a regular basis. If my ex had been serious about chess I doubt that i would have ever beaten her.

Someone mentioned a very good point, about outliers. If you check the average intelligence between men and women you will find they are about the same, but the bell curve is wider for males than females. That means women's IQ tend to be more average, while men more often are either really smart or conversely - really dumb. So even though our average IQ is about the same, it's about 200 times more likely that the next Einstein will be a male than a female. And that also means it's 200 times more likely that the dumbest person on Earth is male.

Isn't it interesting though, how people cry "sexism" if you say men are better than women at anything. Women have better memory than men (in general), is anyone going to call me a sexist for pointing that out? Nope. But if I say men have more physical strength (in general) someone will get triggered and call it sexist.

There are differences between our genders - deal with it. It's not sexism to notice the difference and pointing them out.

Well its just that majority of men are a bit strong...but there are women the. Times stronger than men..no second is in this all actually
