Are there Fischer Random/960/freestyle RAPID tournaments on here? I looked, didn't see any.

Hey all. I'm happy to see chess.com finally start the freestyle friday events but they're 3/1.  That's way too fast for me.  It'll take a couple of minutes just to think about the early positions. So are there any rapid ones or do I have to search for individual games instead?

And the chess world needs to decide what to call it instead of all 3. Fischer Random is too long. chess 960 sounds goofy. Freestyle makes the most sense to me because it's brief & it kind of describes it to the masses that don't play chess regularly.

Hey @DreamscapeHorizons appreciate you sharing this!

At the moment we do not have slow paced Freestyle tournaments, so it'd make sense to try the live seek and in case it takes too long, alternatively you could try the daily seek as well, or try playing competitive for a club in one of the existing community leagues which hold daily 960 competitions, like the ONE WORLD League or the TCMAC. If you apply to one of those, drop me a DM about how your experience went, I know that some are open only to club admins which can make it a bit difficult for people without a club that are willing to join just to play those formats.

If we get substantial interest on rapid Freestyle tournaments I can share with the team and see if we can test it out. Not sure 15 min would make the cut, but 10+0 min could work perhaps with fewer rounds.

Thanks for the info. I'll check out those clubs/leagues.

It would be awesome if there were 10/10 events or even just 10/5. I think the increment is vital because at the start of every game there's no time to get acclimated with the different positions, the increment could be a good solution.

Looking forward to more freestyle events. I think they'll be popular.

Welcome! 10+5 could work I guess if 6 rounds.

Also I forgot to mention our official monthly 960 tournaments which will start in a few hrs, you can find them in this announcement:
