Beginner - Too much chess?

Hello all,

I played a fair amount of chess as a school kid but I'm 32 now so that was ages ago.  Needless to say it means that I know how to play the game how the pieces work and basic strategy.  I took up chess again as a serious hobby just about a month ago.  Really enjoying it and watching youtube videos, reading articles, and doing the daily tactics on here are my main forms of training.  My question is as a beginner is it bad to play a lot of chess?  Sounds like a weird question but since I am obviously making countless mistakes I wonder if playing a lot as a beginner build bad habits?  Or on the other hand is chess one of these activities that you can learn a lot simply by playing a lot (sort of like poker players seeing tons and tons of hands).  I really like playing but wonder what the good balance is between training and playing as a total noob.

Cheers!

u should not play too much online live chess this would effect your real board game if u want to play more and more game then start analysing your games this would definitely improve your game

It's actually quite common to get burned out from chess. Take a few days of break happy.png it usually helps a lot, and often I find I play better afterwards.

In what way are you afraid that it is bad ? Sounds like you enjoy it so I think you should just continue playing a lot and then analyze your games to figure out when and why you are making the mistakes. Also try to play some longer time controls so you have time to think when you play.
