Best Music to listen to while playing chess?

I only listen to music when playing bullet (very rarely blitz) as it otherwise distracts me, But if I do listen while playing bullet it's usually faster paced rock (speeds up my reactions for bullet) eg. CCR, Rainbow, Rush, Black Sabbath with Dio, Yes and Supertramp to name a few.

I now listen to “Battle of the Heroes” and “Duel of the Fates”. Cheers if you know the artist who composed those!

Amen brother. Haha That game has some pretty nice music if I say so myself...

My mentor has been looking into neuroethology to help me improve at chess and I thought I'd share interesting evidence (beyond the Mozart effect) for how music can help with chess improvement.
"Serotonin plays a role in Aplysia learning. There's a whole causal chain that is set into motion by serotonin in inducing synaptic connections. I really wouldn't be surprised if this is happening in human skill learning, like chess, when listening to music. The neuronal architecture of Aplysia is known to change. Greater serotonin means greater changes in the synaptic connections, up to a point, when stimulus conditioning is occurring. It is known that music increases dopamine and serotonin." - David Milliern
I wouldn't go that far. I've been to graduate school for neuroscience. If anything it can cause disruptions in the neuro-networks that you're speaking of, or "chain". That's the best way I can put it. Not all thoughts come from the same part of your brain for a reason. @LogoCzar

With due respect to your studying efforts and qualifications, music that you are very familiar with really does go well with chess. It's not harmful to the process of thinking at chess.
I don't know if I would say it improves your chess by some neurological process, but it can heighten your mood and that can help you at chess.
Maybe you better take a look at your neuroscience courses again because there are plenty of studies claiming music can and does help sometimes, or we can at least say doesn't interfere most of the time. Now if you're listening to new music you are not familiar with then yeah I can certainly see how that might interfere. If you put the exact same music on repeat no way.
