I think that it's time to blow the dust off my copy of Simple Chess and read the thing.
best strategy book?

OP (and/or others) could you give a little feedback on what you finally found as your favorite strategy book? I just finished An Amateur's Mind by Silman and quite enjoyed it. But I still feel like i'd need (and want) to read some more strategy book before i attack on tactics. So, did "Modern chess strategy" by Pachman did the trick? They do have it translated (i read easier in french) at by chess store next door but in three part (around 25$ a piece!).
My Elo is quite low (didn't play much games, but from what i played and seen i must be like 1000-1250)

Chess Structures - A Grandmaster Guide by GM Mauricio Flores Rios (2015)
"There is also masses of stuff in the book that made me go 'Oooh!' and 'Aaah!' so I think it will have the same effect on you! In particular, I loved Rios' exposition of White's plan of exerting queenside pressure against Hedgehog systems. I'd seen one of the games he quotes in his chapter but I'd never remotely made any link to a structured way of fighting the Hedgehog structure, so this chapter was a real eye-opener for me ...
In conclusion, warmly recommended. Lots to learn!" - GM Matthew Sadler
The Power of Pawns by GM Jörg Hickl (2016)
"The didactic concept of the book is admirable. Each chapter defines the structures, explains the typical characteristics and shows the plans for both White and Black. The reader participates by assessing positions and invariably receives useful tips for practical play." - FM Harry Schaack

Thanks for de feedback. I'll check it out. Still worried that Pachman's book a difficult read are. What do you guys think?
From what seems to be available at my store, there are the three Volume of Pachman's strategy series
Soltis: Pawn Structure or How to choose a move
John Nunn: Move by move or The Middlegames
If you'd to choose between them, a (relatively) easy or accessible book that'l complete my book of Amateur's mind what would it be. Would be nice if it doesn't completely left out the opening phases :)

The Chernev, Wilson, and Heisman books (in post #69) are my attempt to identify books that are suitable for someone new to chess.
