Bishops are good in open positions and knights are better in closed positions.

Knights are easier to fork with than a Bishop and also are really helpful because they are able to attack pieces that are behind other pieces
As a newbie, knights are more helpful in the beginning of the game and bishops later into the game.

Depends on the specific position and the overall strategy of the game. Both pieces have unique strengths and weaknesses.
Knight
Bishop is better in open position, and knight is better in closed position. Knights are arguably better in time scramble tho, as they are very tricky.
