We're all obviously here cause were bored.. and we want to be bored(er)

Everything, including sex, is boring. Especially sex, especially for women.
Aldous Huxley says that an intellectual is a person who has found something more interesting than sex.
Sherlock Holmes relied on cocaine to make things interesting.
Great minds are always bored. Their brilliance is manifested in creative solutions to unbearable ennui.
Idiots are always fascinated with everthing. Give an idiot a brick, an iPhone, a TV, a prostitute, an internet forum—their pursuit for pleasure is over.
I am reminded of Lermontov's "A Hero of Our Time". The superflous man is perpetually bored with the world, and yet boredom is his engine.
You are all Pechorin. You play chess only to conquer your foe, have sex only to conquer the woman. You all are selfish and hedonistic. You all need Jesus. Even with Him, you are all too ugly with sin for me to look upon.
I leave in disgust.
How boring... Goodbye!
Brian
You are misrepresenting Yasser Seiriwan's views. I've listened to enough of his chess broadcasts to know that he remains enthusiastic about the game. He created a chess variant--and a challenging one--out of interest, not disinterest.
How can you play chess for four decades and still reason no better than a twelve year old child?
twelve year old child reporting for duty

Learn, study, think. When you are eighteen, you will reason better than you do now. When you are forty, better yet. You already seem better at reasoning than teacher_1 (I did not mean to insult you by comparing him to children your age).
I have been playing chess for nearly 4 decades and am mostly BORED with it. Anything, I don’t care what it is, gets boring after doing it for that length of time. And so it is with chess. The IMMORTAL Bobby Fischer hardly ever played “normal” chess anymore--thus the invention of Fischer Random Chess.
I’m sure all you long time chessoholics feel the SAME was as I do. BORED. We feel as if there is nothing left to conquer. Nothing new. NO more challenges to meet. We are at our ceiling (which we KNOW there is one) and there is NO MORE improving. Once we reach our PREDEFINED ceiling, there is no more going up. We have reached the proverbial top of EVEREST. We simply can’t improve anymore and lose interest.
Well, let me tell you, I know what you mean. I played for 21 years. And once or twice I told myself "I'm done with this sick, demented game." And so I quit but then I miss it and came back to it because it's fun. Then I'd lose interest again and stop playing for some 6 to 12 months before I began missing it again.
But I've lived my entire life this way. I lose interest easily. Not my fault, it's how my head works. It's how the universe made me.
Hans Niemann might have cheated might have not. The fact is the game of chess is under terrible scrutiny right now, and no Bobby Fischer himself said he hated chess theory and as a result hated chess. When the GOAT says that about his own game, then yeah there’s a problem. And most of the people commenting are like 1800 to 2300 but who knows they might have cheated?
"Nothing new. NO more challenges to meet"
Are you world champion for decades so?
Well we are no our limits if you do not enjoy chess and have other intrests and a`t inproving there is no reason to keep playing it is just like trying to keep a freindship with someone you don`t enjoy there is no reason
Well, at least there are people who have not become bored with the GAME, as I have. I truly am glad to hear that.
And for my fellow chess comrades who took offense to my post, I APOLOGIZE.
It is not my position to offend or to rile people up, I leave to ZIRYAB and his troll minions.
See, people, I have as a previous poster noted, a conquering type of personality. I want to conquer what ever it is I set my MIND on, and then move on. I'm not here to brag, that is not my intention, but I feel I have conquered all there is to conquer in the world of chess. I have reached my proverbial ceiling, won my share of awards, and have done things in the CHESS world that not many people can claim to have done.
But hold on, I still love the game. Cannot I be bored with something and still love it?
Believe it or not, THIS VERY SITE and its passionate members keeps the teeny tiny spark that I have inside, LIT.
Thank you.
And by you, you mean your chess engines?
