GM Eric Hansen was poisoned by Russian secret agents on the first round of the FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Championship 2022 in Alamaty, Kazakhstan.
The plan was to infect GM Magnus Carlsen early in the tournament, so he would feel sick and fell off a window.
Unfortunately, this will never be proven.
