My ratings 2131...that pretty much means im like International master right.

It's not too difficult to score high on such a test ... just ponder different moves until you find the solution.

But in a real chess game, the positions are often muddy and complicated. Sometimes there is no clear solution to be found. Sometimes your position is worse, not better.

My main point: being able to find good moves in superior positions is a useful skill. But being able to create superior positions, from the opening move and onward, is another skill entirely ...

dude....you cant ponder moves till you find the solution...theres like a million zillion moves possible, well known chess fact. the only way is to find the right move, elometer is accurate

I have a FIDE rating. I'll try that thing later and tell you about it.

The key thing about puzzles is that you start out knowing that there is something to look for.  During a game you are not clued in on the moves that have good combinations.

My Chess.com puzzle rating is more than 700 points higher than my daily rating because puzzles are known to have good tactics in the position.  My daily rating is rising but is still about 100 points lower than my US Chess rating (the FIDE equivalent is about the same).  Based on the challenges in current daily games against similarly rated opposition, my rating may start leveling out.

That is a long way of saying that puzzle performance generally exceeds (often greatly exceeds) the performance somebody would have in a regular game, so a high puzzle performance would be an unreliable indicator of a person's playing strength.

How in the world was he 1900? That’s some bad play. Here’s a hint: it’s easier to play better if your opponent plays like garbage.
