apes have a very much larger short memory than humans and can use these informations also very much faster. also everything in orientation in a 3d room is much better and faster. they can move about 50 meters in a wood and can remember everything to go there blindfolded.

There is some African saying that monkeys can talk, but they avoid it since they know that it would mean that humans would make them work. Maybe they can play chess too but avoid it so they don't have to read the kibitzing.
