I'm wondering about the time lineUndecided  This thread was started 3 days ago. Ok, Oct 1Undecided  The movie was releast Sept 16. So why would the OP want to look for a movie ONLINE, that hasn't been releast ONLINE yet?  Lets say hypothetically that someone provided an illegal link. Chess.com would delete the post and lock the thread.

Alright.  I know that Jamie is ignorant here.  Anybody who remains ignorant of the conversation to the point that they cannot render similar opinion is an idiot.  I understand that reading comprehension is difficult for many Americans as they are not fluent in their own language.  But that does not excuse one of being an idiot.

Sometimes films are leaked before they're even released in the theaters.  The first four episodes of the last season of Game of Thrones were leaked before they were aired.  That's just the most recent biggest example I can think of.

If you are an artist you're contributing to the culture.  Once your work is out there for everyone you've lost control it is no longer just yours it is part of human history.

Don Quixote was widely illegally copied and distributed back in the day.

I dont blame you, but I view an illicit pirated copy of a film as a counterfeit.  I won't buy counterfeits, whether they are cds, dvds, Coach handbags, Rolex watches, or other knockoffs.

You do realize that you are probably harboring criminal evidence on your computer, phone, or any device that uses the internet?

If you view any site that has images, banners, ads, videos, ect (basically any site with something other than text), it will leave evidence in your cache.  So if the site in question has any of those which had anything from a movie per say and permission was not given to the site owner to host said information, then that information is illegal (assuming the site is on a U.S. based site).  If you even happened to browse the page with anything on it that is illegal, even if you did not realize it was there, you are still storing copyrighted material to your computer from the cache.

If you have used anything that involves Google, you probably have violated some copyright.

It's not an unusual thing to be prosecuted on, but it tends to happen to people who get turned into scapegoats and is a pretty flimsy argument is you ask me.  You are basically asking several hundred million U.S. users to pay a civil penalty for using the internet.

If you want to be safe, block ads, block javascript, disable the running of scripts, disable flash, and don't use add-ons.

I mean you are just as guilty as anyone else.

Have you ever burned a CD before?  That's a major violation of copyright laws.  Now you can try to argue using the fair use doctrine, but that starts getting really murky.  I once bought a CD off of a friend in middle school in the early 2000s that he burned 13 songs onto.  Based on that I should be charged $130,000 along with any punitive damages it caused the copyright holder.  At the time it would have made me a minor, so now that falls upon my parents.  So I would be put on probation, my parents could face possible jail time for negligence with additional penalties, our internet could be restricted or used under supervision of a probationary officer to ensure that me or anyone else in the household does not illegally download, and any additional punitive damages the copyright holder wishes from not having been compensated properly.  In addition, the copyright holder could bring a class action lawsuit against the friend of mine for distributing commercially.  He is also a minor so similar actions can be brought onto his parents.  Then you can add in conspiracy against the free market if you really want to throw the book at people.

This is all rather ridiculous right?   Although everything in my example that I did was illegal and the punishment is valid, I seriously doubt that's the appropriate use of our justice system and the laws of digital rights media should be ammended to end this topic.

"Actus reus non facit reum nisi mens sit rea"

Cute, but I don't think you know what that means in the context.  This is the difference between studying the law and quoting it without knowing what it is.

Essentially what that is saying is that if you are guilty of a criminal offense if you committed a crime and had the intent to knowingly do so.  Lets look at that shall we.

1st - Those are the elements required to prove that somebody is guilty of a criminal offense in most cases.  You can still be charged with a crime, but you might have either a lesser or greater punishment depending on your intent.

2nd - The situations above are primarily civil offenses.  Intent is mostly irrelevent in those cases so mens rea does not apply.

So in my above 1st case against you, you are still guilty of the civil crime of violating copyright claims.

I and everyone else know that you are ignorant here.  If you want to stand by your position that we are all criminals, trust me you don't want to go down that route because we can find just about anything on you.  This justice system is a flawed beast in that the above scenarios are possible with enough determination.

The Latin phase speaks to criminal intent.

You are the one who prefaced your statement with "harboring criminal evidence."

Doing an about face now doesn't help your case, idiot.  I don't even concede your premis and the majority of your post is just aimless menatal masturbation.

A tad slow on the uptake, are we?  Put the bottle down.

The copyright cartel is getting stronger.  https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2015/10/final-leaked-tpp-text-all-we-feared

The Trans Pacific Partnership is another step in the wrong direction.
