Hmm. But isn't the fact that I'm clearly not sexist a good sign of how this stat doesn't mean much? So the stat that I post in a lot of female threads is supposed to predict that I'll act sexist, yet I don't.

Are you "clearly" not sexist? Really? I'm not convinced you've "clearly" proved that.

I knew someone would jump on that bait. I'm surprised it took this long :)

I only notice where you post because it would be nice to see you in more topics.

Well that's up to me.  At times I have taken a slight hiatus from the forums, and it's only been maybe the past 6 months where I've been about as active as I used to be. I hadn't had a lot of interest in posting in chess.com threads in general. But occasionally a provocative topic will sometimes suck me in and then I often stay there for a while, I just kind of get addicted.

In other words I'm not really trying to post in topics. It just kind of happens. Really, I try to avoid being on this site, it's just that clearly I end up failing.

Please don't leave this site, Elubas! It would be like running out of pot!Laughing

I know. You'll be gone for what seems like months, then BOOM. Literally the same day a woman topic is posted you're there. Makes me think you lurk a lot.

Alright, maybe this will clear things up. All I really do here is check for any topics I've posted in, if there is a new post, I don't seek out a new thread. I don't play cc here anymore, and I rarely play on live chess. Although I do check out the news articles. The only reason I post on new threads is because of that stupid thing on the right that shows like the 10 most recent forum posts, and then sometimes I'll get click baited onto one of them. Obviously, just random crap about openings isn't going to provoke me. I'll click on the more provocative ones, and if trysts or something happens to have posted there, chances are I'll disagree with her and have an argument to start.

Didn't used to be that way. I used to be genuinely passionate about this site for a long time. Now I'm just refusing to die.

Oh, I see.

Yeah, I remember when you were active.

I knew it! Hilarious!Laughing

For example here is a recent one I'm curious what your initial impression is Elubas:

"Why are the hypermodern openings more successful against d4 than e4?"

Avatar of Elubas

Yeah, I used to post in lots of threads like that I think.

Avatar of Elubas

But I don't think those threads were great for my chess. I've spent less time on that crap and more time actually looking at my own games and figuring out what actually made me win/lose games, not academic stuff like that. My chess is a zillion times more practical now. That academic stuff was really fun to talk about though :)

Avatar of u0110001101101000

Sure, it's just fun to think / talk about.

Avatar of trysts

Sure, it can be fun, but I can see it not being fun too. Fun can be something you do or don't do. Not that I'm saying fun is one thing, fun can be other things too...

Avatar of u0110001101101000

First of all you're precluding the idea that it might not be fun. It might be fun, and that is ok, unless you don't like it like I do, which is ok too. I'm very accepting of different points of view. But I don't think you can just assume it's fun without thinking about it first. For example you could click on a topic you thought would be fun, only to find it's not fun at all. It's fun to some people, but not you, even if you talk about it. So you have to consider this first.

Avatar of trysts

Hilarious! You're really good at thatLaughing

Good point! :)

Avatar of Elubas

Look, people don't have discipline in their thinking (surely you'd agree to that at least), so I have to overcompensate a little :) You're starting to learn :)

lol thanks

I liked yours too. Almost short enough to make an image macro Tongue Out

I could probably do better than that though :)

Avatar of trysts

Well yours is the original, elubas. Though I can't imagine how much paperwork would be involved with getting a patent for itLaughing

I've actually thought about the purpose of fun before. Who am I to say that I have a good life just because I'm having fun -- where's the proof. I'm not saying I didn't conclude that fun was good in the end, just that I've wasted some of my time thinking about it before :)
