I never played an OTB game with ANYONE other than my family. I'm still trying to get good enough to feel confident enough to enter a tournament.

I had M4 in an over the board classical game, with half an hour still on the clock. I hung my queen. In a single move.

I play bullet instead of rapid on 10 min games.

In a qualification OTB tournament to select the players who would compete in the under-20 championship of Canada, I once calculated and played a sacrificial combination to win my opponent's Rook... and then at the end of the forced sequence I forgot to take the free Rook and played a different move instead.

I won anyway. We must have both been terrible players.

I once resigned after a long piece trade thinking I had lost a rook. I didn't realize that I had earned that rook.

I won a game against a 1300, and then lost two games which then I lost a tournament.

I lost a winning game after my opponent did something almost as bad as this.

Join a local club as a stepping stone perhaps...

I was up a lot of material in an OTB chess game, but I lost with a bishop checkmate with a rook guarding all my escape squares.

I would like to participate in the discussion but the statue of limitations hasn't run out. Check back in about three years. wink.png
