I just remembered that we're currently calling this game project "King's Gambit". What do you mean by that?
A chess move or the sacrifice of the king?

Hey you guys!
Before I start; I'm not a good chess player and my knowledge about the chess topic is very limited. Still, I'm trying to learn as much as I can. So please feel free to explain any kind of professional terms etc.
I'd like to have you're opinion for a game I'm making with my team.
Firts of all, that's our game concept:
Core Statement:
Win with one of the unique factions in epic RTS mass battles, within a chess-inspired multiverse tournament. (nochmal überarbeiten, s. RTS Concept doc)
Setting/Theme:
In a cosmic tournament, warriors from countless civilizations across the multiverse clash to claim the ultimate throne and reshape the fate of their worlds.
Asymmetric Factions:
Each faction comes with its own resources, buildings, units, and playstyles, making every match a unique experience.
Chess-Inspired Units:
Every unit is based on classic chess pieces, each with unique abilities and stats.
Massive Armies:
Some units appear as hero units, others as large-scale battalions, amplifying the feel of epic warfare.
Checkmate:
The King is your most vital unit: If he falls, the game is over. Protect him at all costs or wield him as a powerful, offensive force.

Mechanics: Chess-inspired unit movement, resource management, territory control, and asymmetric factions with unique abilities.
Dynamics: Players balance exploration, resource gathering, and tactical combat, adapting to opponents’ strategies
Aesthetics: Strategic satisfaction, tension from high-stakes decisions, and a sense of empowerment and immersion as players progress through the game’s cosmic tournament.
What are your thoughts on this concept?
Are you playing RTS Games? Are you enjoying them or would you be interested to play them?
What would you consider as key mechanics of chess? We thought it would be the territorial map control, king as win/loose condition and the unique abilities of the chess pieces?
Any thoughts are very welcome, please feel free to ask, if you didn't understand anything.
Maybe you have cool ideas or critic?
Thanks for reading,
Cora
