Just noticed--he started himself off at an 1800 rating LOL

Thanks, that was too obvious.

This guy didn't even play 200 games, and yet thought he could beat Magnus?

And Magnus gave him a game???

His bullet rating is the funniest part...

It's kinda funny how he puts "Continuously freestyle rap for 3 minutes" on par with "Defeat world-champion Magnus Carlsen at a game of chess". That's like a DIYer saying "This year, I'm going to build a go-kart, a crossbow, and a spaceship that will go to Mars."

He didn't start out thinking he would beat Magnus. His goal was to beat the Play Magnus app. The Wall Street Journal reporter came up with the idea of playing the real Magnus.

Why did Magnus accept?

And more importantly, how could that reporter be such an idiot?

I think reporters get very used to writing up stuff they know nothing about. Adding in deadlines just makes it worse.

I don't think he is a con artist. I was very impressed with the other 11 skills he developed.

I see that some of the Navy Seals here have criticized his pullups but I doubt if 1 in 1000 here can do any better.

You can criticize his perfect pitch, etc. I think he did a very creditable job in all of them.

However, that said, he was naive about how much time it would take him to develop a chess-playing algorithm. The whole approach of trying to learn to think like a computer seems ludicrous.

His algorithm wasn't done. He had to rely on his casually developed chess skills, which were modest. I think he was brave to show up.

This is the point what makes me feel curious, if he was actually naive (maybe delusional would be a more accurate description) or he was well aware of what the result of this experiment would, and will, be. I'd put my money on the latter.

Again I would like to point out this was a Wall Street Journal journalist.

They are known now to make stuff up, particularly after they started this whole addpocalypse on youtube.

A youtuber dresses up in a British Uniform, and they said he's in a Nazi uniform and called him a hero to the alt-right. They also photoshopped adds onto screenshots of racists videos(which were later proven to be unmonetized) in order to make it seem like racists videos were making money off of Pepsi and other companies adds, making many advertisers pull out completely from youtube.

Even after people had started pointing out they had deliberately taken things out of context, manufactured evidence and manipulated their readers they still kept on making the same shocking reports based on new things taken out of context, as if nothing had happened.

You cannot find a worse paper than WSJ. Absolutely disgusting paper.

Max Deutsch is such a pathetic, egotistical player, that even beginners would checkmate him despite his years of memorizing algorithms, and even then, he's not worth their time. Lucario and Toshineko Hirozaki, both chess grandmasters, wouldn't even waste their time with him.

Journalism is dead. Now it's run by activists claiming to be journalists just so they can make disgusting fake news without admitting that they're wrong.

Welcome all. I began to lead the chess channel. He is very young, but a lot of new and interesting is planned. I would be grateful for your support.

Magnus was shaking during the match! The unthinkable happened: Max was WINNING after 11 moves! (+0.1 according to Stockfish LOL)

That is not winning unless Stockfish has the evaluation wrong. That is very likely an equal position with accurate play. For example, it is quite a lot smaller than the advantage of white before a move has been played (which achieves about 54% score in practice).
