Enjoy the 1200 while you have it. If you are new to the game like I was, starting to play chess here first, that 1200 rating will last a few hours. I fell to 400 in one weekend, built up to 700, had to self punish and go back to my lowest rating of 440 for quitting on a game and now slog back up to where I am (700 something). 1200 is a number reserved for a quality player and is earned. Time will tell...
Chess rating system

In an official Chess match, one 13 yr old moved his king wrongly in to opponent's queen line by mistake. At the time of this mistake his opponent had only 4 sec. left in a 90 min. per side match.
For the mistake, tournament director (TD) awarded his opponent further 30 sec. as penalty. and
His opponent won the game with 6 further moves. If 30 sec. was not awarded to the opponent as penalty, the 13 yr. old could have won on time control.
Is the TD's action is correct or is it unfair/un-ethical?
The kid would have lost his king, game over. Don't think you can complain much about that one paulm2001...

my chess mentor rating is 1677, chess tactics varies as it can be reset but around 1250, and online correspondence one 1140.
The question: Which one is the TRUE reflection of my skill?

Btw, chess mentor is nice, but tactics is mean and unfriendly. Can the streak of "incorrect" answers have a psychological impact on the confidence of a player?

how is this unfair? it is USCF rules if somebody makes an illegal move under 5 minutes, the opponent of the person who commited the wrong move gets 2 minutes added to his clock.
a couple of months ago, I was in an OTB tournament, and I was up a bishop but I only had about 20 seconds on my clock. My opponent made an illegal move ( I checked him, and he did not move his King), and I called the TD for this, and I was awarded 2 extra minutes enough to win the game easily.

... one of the biggest mysteries to me is that
"how in the name of Herobrine did a rating question get to have 91 pages of post?!?
I like the glicko rating system, the higher your glicko rating is, the less games you have played, the lower the glicko rating system is, the less games you have played. +1 for this forum. :) The thing in USCF is they have to base your rating of at least 25 games so you can get an estimate of your real chess rating.
