There are certain principles that everyone has to learn to get better at chess. Opening principles, endgame principles, tactics, etc. It's just a matter of doing a bit of studying, and you'll see a quick improvement.

That brutal realization when you realize you aren't that good at chess. I remember when I was in elementary school and I had strong performances at state tournaments, my teachers always told me I was a talent. Little did I realize at the time, I wasn't. The average person is just terrible at chess.

The only difference is level of competition. You just aren't good at chess(neither am I), better to accept it and start your training from a realistic baseline. I don't mean to be cold but chess is a brutal game.
All your games are blitz and bullet. Play slower games and put some thought into it.

internet chess has nothing to do with it. sorry but your dad and friends are beginner levels too,like you. if you want to get better study chess. focus first on tactics and learn general opening principles. the purpose of solving tactics problem is that it will lessen your blunders, allows you to see tactical chances to win material or mate the king. don't play bullet because as a beginner, it will teach you bad habits. play at longer time control.
I have always been very good at chess, playing against a friend, or my dad, but I haven't won any games so far on this website. Is there any obvious reason, or am I just not used to it. Maybe I'm playing people who are way better than myself at chess, but I run into this problem even when I play against the computer... Any tips?
