Chess Tournament Preparation

Hi all,

There is a local chess tournament that will happen in a month, so I have 23 days to prepare myself for it. I have been playing chess since high school on and off and want to seriously prepare myself. I wonder what I could do to use the best of my time. In chess.com I am rated high 1400/low 1500 and it is my kind of plateau.

I do the free daily 7 tactics everyday and then play 15|10 games as that will be the time control for the tournament. I don't want to focus too much on studying openings because my opponents always play some moves that are not from main line or any variations. I analyze my games using an engine to show me where was my blunder and what strategy should I use to keep pressure on the enemy. What else should I do?

Not much. Don’t be nervous. If you know you’ll do your best, you can’t go wrong. You win, great. You lose, your opponent was better and simply outplayed you. Don’t let the nerves get to you.

I am not worried about the tournament but I want to see how should I spend my time preparing for the tournament.

Learn a basic opening to play as white and black. Study tactics, play chess, and have fun.

Yeah I do. I am 1254 but only after 3 tournaments, the FQE rating.
