Your issue might not actually be with the computer, but with your internet service. I have several computers that I use at various locations that I travel too.
I am constantly checking my internet connection to see if it will permit me to play 1 min chess (speed of choice online).
I was plagued with slow internet connections at home for the longest. I thought it was my computer and did all kinds of upgrades and closed all kinds of applications. One day I was at a friends house with my laptop and was able to play 1 min on chess.com live with no problem. I began researching at that point only to learn, some internet providers throttle the connection. This is difficult to tell when you are just surfing the web.
Having a Premium membership vs. free will not improve your internet connection in live chess.
Hope this helps.
I am an average, hard-working, family guy that likes a little aderenaline pump daily. So after work each day I come home, sit at my pc., and play 1 min chess here at chess.com. This routine was great for me!
About a month or so ago there was an interruption here for server upgrades and game improvement. Since then my lag is too high to really compete and it fluccuates wildly between games, (1 min span) from a sliver of red, to a full block of green, and everything in between. I was always a full block of green before so I thought maybe my pc was bugged or too outdated. I went out and purchased a newer pc to be "up" on the tech scale only to experience the same problems and now even more. Now I cant even get the clicking sound that happens when a move is made, no matter how many times I reboot
I am now just wondering if this is an attempt to get me to buy a membership or what because I dont see my opponents lag level fluccuate at all. I was a steady 1800 ratings player before all the commotion, now im lucky if I win because if I dont "mate" my vs, they win on time.
Is this happening to anyone else?
