Chess.com recently hit 10 million members and there's a downside.

Success breeds success.  I don't understand the downside, other than its a blessing AND a curse. I've heard of being a victim of your own success. I'm reminded of my days of working at McDonalds. The sign said, "Over 10 million served". What's it up to now?, 900 ka zillion billion trillion??

It's funny you mention it, actually.  I apparently created this account years ago to say something on a forum or something.  A few years later,  having forgotten about this account, I created a new one.  I became an active, paying member with that account, played a fair number of games, and had some fun with it.  Life happened, and I let it all lapse for a year or two.  I finally got some time for chess again, and I somehow dug up the login credentials for this totally obsolete and forgotten account I'm using now.  I wondered where my games and ratings and such had gone, but I had already bought a new membership and started over when I finally stumbled on the other account where all my stuff was.  Well, that explains it!

Long story short, I got staff to shoot me a copy of my game archive from the more recent account, and had them delete it.  I have officially started over.  And gotten too busy with life to play chess again.  Sigh.
