No one gives them out and I'm trying to collect them all. Any ideas on how I can increase my chances ?

Ask your opponent to give you one after each game. Most will probably ignore you, but a few will do as you ask.

Pawnlings

They mean nothing to me so I don't even think about giving them.

Jklenear

Thanks guys and @pawnlings I figure that might be why for many players

Martin_Stahl

Most of the ones that I have received have been from Daily games. Actually, probably all 9 of them were grin.png.

Can someone please tell me , what is the point, to having these trophies !
It's a psychological healing mechanism available to you after a loss.  Instead of cursing your opponent, you send him a present.  Also helps to distance you from the immediacy of the loss.  OK, maybe it's just all about being passive-aggressive and not being able to let the game go without having the last word...wink.png

I got one after my game...

Jklenear

I send some after winning. I mostly win and still rarely get 1 from the do called passive-aggressive loser

Some tournaments give them out. The tournament of Champions is giving them out. At least that's what the email said.

Jklenear

I'd like to join that!

What do you write? "Congrats for loosing to me"? I rarely give trophies, but when I do they should mean something more than a simple "gg" after a game. It could be for outplaying me or make a cool combination or whatever, just something. I know I enjoy getting a trophy if I beat a much higher rated opponent, so I did give my opponent a trophy after this game:

Of course I was disappointed when I blundered my queen in a correspondence game, but you should know that my opponent was really happy for winning a game against such a higher rated opponent.

Also, for what it is worth, his technique for winning after winning my queen was pretty good.

Martin_Stahl

I've received them for winning and for losses. But the point is more social in nature, it is a way to interact with your opponent.

Jkleaner. It was a tournament I was invited to by ChessUniversity.com it is hosted by them on chess.com I am In division #126

Jklenear

Oh ok I'm in 119 good luck!

eulers_knot

I have no use for the trophies.  I received the welcome trophy, the one year anniversary trophy, and some random one somebody sent me.  I deleted them all from my "trophy case".  I wouldn't think to send them as I don't place any value in them.

universityofpawns

I got some without asking, but the "pawn magician" one is the only one I care about.

vickalan

I usually give a trophy to people who win a game of bulldog.😊

Jklenear

Yes those are the trophies I want the most acknowledgement for. My favorite would be strikingly strong play

Are you that pathetic that you need virtual trophies that mean absolutely nothing to boost your self esteem? Because thats sad. Get a life.

I have a lot of real trophies that I got from chess tournaments I played as a kid. They don't really mean much to me, so why does it matter if trophies are being virtual or not?

I have noticed virtual trophies does not collect any dust.

Jklenear

Thanks so much for those who have sent me trophies. I'll add any of you guys as friends if you want, you've made my week better :)
