Is there a way to add a custom personality CM GM edition to the list of 'official' personalities so I can add it to the tourneys?
Sure. Go into Training Mode, then in the menu, choose "Game --> Set Up Personality". When the "Set Up Personality" box appears, select the standard Chessmaster personality. Now, as soon as you change any slider setting, the name of the personality should change to "Chessmaster #2". You can now change this name to any name you like, as long as it's not "Chessmaster". Make any necessary changes to the settings, then save the new personality.
For any changes to the Material settings, you'll have to reverse-calculate the required settings as explained by Graham Banks in this link (the 3rd from the bottom post): http://talkchess.com/forum3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=14637&p=126413
Oh ty for the link but I meant make CM think that a custom personality is a built in one.
but anyway I found out how to add a custom personality to a tourney.
Now I have a new question lol
I set up a tourney but it plays only one game then I have to instruct it to play the next game. Can't I have the whole tourney play automatically without having to start each game manually?

Not that I know of. The infuriating thing about this is that Chessmaster 9000 WOULD let you play the whole tourney automatically. Then in later versions, Ubisoft removed this feature. Grrrr...
Wow that is unbelievable. The only way that makes sense is brain damage. That means I have to buy CM 9000, (if it can still be bought and if not I have to use a pirated copy... not my fault Ubisoft you didn't do it right), and import TheKing64, (if it isn't built into cm 9000). Who knows what a nightmare rigging up everything might be.

You could also export chessmaster personalities and play the tournaments in Arena.

I wonder if this thread inspired the new chess.com personalities?
I don't know where did they get the inspiration, but there's a promising future in playing engine chess personalities since the moment humans increased their dishonesty when playing online.
It's a shame Ubisoft didn't see this coming, and chess.com will take the lead.

Chessmaster personalities are a lot of fun, but playing Fritz 16 is easily the best AI that I've seen anywhere. Makes genuine looking mistakes, sets up tactical problems, resigns at appropriate moments, plays better from a position being set up, etc

Interesting. That seems to be something they have difficulty programming into an AI. The computers usually don't make calculation errors or miss fianchetto Bishops like humans do. They usually play like Kasparov then "whoops, I gave up my knight for a pawn" for no reason at some point during the game.

I know what you mean. Fritz is really quite good in that regard. It can then also signal an alert that there is a tactical problem, which isn't too unlike solving a tactic in a trainer.

Actually my biggest issue with the chessmaster personalities is the lack of positions that they play.
If you play the French, expect only to get the Winawer and Tarrasch. If you play the open games, expect to only get the Ruy Lopez. Computer plays weird when you try to set up anything different, also.

Hi All
I find the default Tal personality in Chessmaster 10/11 to be rather tame. Compared to the customised Tal's settings from my ancient blog post. To beef up the Tal personality for more fiery play with more 'sound' sacrifices, use the settings below:
I've tested this personality on this chess position, taken from here, where Tal played Rf6.
The default Chessmaster personalities will play Qh4 instead of Rf6. The 'beefed up' Tal personality finds the Rf6 move very fast. Another move that transposes is the immediate Bh7+.

My Own Supercool Personality (Rated 3000 Elo) (Myself) 1 min+0s vs Stock Fischer out of installed DVD with GUI

Very cool.
Any other adjustment recommendations for this engine?
Apparently you can import engines (like Stockfish) into Chessmaster, but it's a bit complex and I don't know how to do it.
Also, I found that Attacker/Material personalities tend to do better... in moderation, of course.

That link is really good! And I just discovered Glass is highly customizable too! 😃
I'm downloading it right know.
Are there other highly customizable chess engines, aside from The King and Glass?
So, looking at the codes, if you don't write a parameter in chessmaster engine code, i suppose it will be set at normal balance (100).
(In case someone else wants to create chessmaster custom personalities, I can post under request a list of all the parameters meaning in the code line).
"Are there other highly customizable chess engines, aside from The King and Glass?"
Rodent is quite customizable; You might check that engine out:

I don't really know; I thought all of the required parameters are always specified. I did notice that sometimes I'll see something like ks=135, in which I assume it means that both myks and opks will be set to 135.
