Code for Messages

Why have we had to put in a code all day long to send a personal message? It used to just happen every now and then. The code is hard to read and takes several times to get it right. The glitches on chess.com are getting unreasonable! Can someone give me an answer please about the code?

No use reporting the problem for staff support they seem to ignore me.

I have the same problem, and it makes communication difficult.

I never get the code right the first time.

I gave up trying. The last time it happened, I made too many mistakes, and then it thought I was a computer.

I just looked and it seems to be gone at least for one message anyway lol

I think it is all part of the system overload. Send messages in the evening, when most of Europe is asleep.  happy.png

How do you guys manage to get the captcha wrong, just reload it if it is not visible

The whole point is to make it harder for bots to generate auto-spam directed at other members. They're probably considering implementing it for forum posts to try and prevent all of the Keto Gummy rubbish.

I've been on chess.com for about 6 years now and needing to input that code seems to come in waves. I'll have to input it for almost every message for a few days and then I won't see this again for a year or something like that.

This code is a measure chess.com uses to cut down on bots and cut down on spam. They re-issue the need for a code every now and then (probably based on when spam is higher, or maybe some timed algorithm or something). I see this as a small annoyance when it comes up, but a worthwhile one if it keeps spammers and bots held back.

As for getting the code wrong, when in doubt, I use a lowercase letter and this seems to work more often.
