If that were true, our species would be in trouble...  :-)

The rockstar's mom told him that he wore his pants too tight during concerts.  He replied that he wanted his fans to know what sex he was.  She replied that they could tell what religion he was.

Its about self-control just that, not equality in society bla bla blah and as all know testosterone makes weird things happen to men.Women are  in control almost everytime. Its the man who makes it or ruins it.Cant blame the men, blame it on hormones.Thats what OP has done and she knows it well.

How so? Do they climb over 9,000 feet once a month?

Alreadygivenup

Yes that's the point,so its even.Only difference is that women are emotional creatures,so they complain and complain whereas men hide their true feelings and hold it all in as its considered unmanly.Eventuallly the society skull f@#%@the poor men and women are treated with sensitivity and compassion.

Alreadygivenup

Yes it is.Court judgement's and media everywhere in the world shows a positive bias towards the female side,i bet and society nod's in approval all the time. And if the man is a celibrity,he will be ruined and shredded by the so called equal society.Women fare much better in such cases.

Is it a "Guy" thing the inability to control even when playing internet chess? It just annoys me at times when someone flaunts their masculinity. Geez!

It's a combination of immaturity and cowardice: they know they don't have to meet you face-to-face so they're suddenly brave. Real-life men and women don't behave that way. OTB you see a lot of body-language intimidation attempts, but virtually nothing verbal and it's all much more restrained, even among children.

Reading all the comments and criticisms, I understand both sides point of views and thankful that the discussions are civil (except a few), intelligent and respectful. I'm not completely naive that these incidences do occur especially within the world of Internet socialization regardless of the chosen site or forum. Quoting some of the comments, "Chess is a male dominated forum, so get used to it", so, the author is suggesting that since it is male dominated, it is completely okay and I shouldn't expect no less. "Women deserves to be respected but is not an entitlement ", true to a point but I believe that men should also reign their sexual emotions. There are other sites that such behaviors are totally acceptable but on a Chess site? I never said to stop being a man, all I was asking is to "Control" and recognize the word NO, STOP and to recognize when one is not interested and have the decency to refrain once told.

I can only share my own personal experience here nor do I claim to be a good spokesperson representing women. Just hoping and wishing that this tread would also be a learning to those who happen to read on how some of us feels when we are regarded as sex objects and undeserving of respect. For the few women chess players out there, it makes me wonder if they can also speak out their opinions and or their experiences. Players from all over the world plays here. I'm respectful to everyone and of their opinions. I love chess, let's play chess. And please control those hormones.

from what i can see you mainly play bullet and 'live'. in there you will meet idiots, just disable chat before the game starts or play the computer. if you want to have a conversation with someone, play a 24 hour game or longer. most guys here are ok especially in 'daily' or longer games. if anyone gets to you, block them. all the tools are there to make this place ok

Women are not stupid and they detect perfectly when a guy's intentions are more than "just have a random friendly conversation". I understand that they can get really annoyed and tired when every single day they get messages from men trying to flirt with them.

And it gets much worse when it is not "respectful" flirting but offensive sexual comments.

This is a chess website, we are here to play chess, not to flirt.

There are countless of websites and apps that were made for flirting, but a chess website is not one of them.

We can't say "Oh, men are like that, it's normal thing". I am a 28 year old man and I can perfectly control myself and I won't make any sexual comments to any female username.

It is not a thing of hormones, it is a thing of education, respect and common sense.

I don't think Isabela is complaining because someone just said "Hi" to her, I bet it was much more than that. So I understand her frustration.

I'm all in favor for treating women with "respect", but I do get tired of the constant complaints about male behavior when they don't receive the "respect" they expect.  For better or worse, Society has evolved to treat men and woman as "Equals".

Much as some may wish otherwise, we don't live in a Victorian age when you tip your hat and hold a door open for a woman.  It's sad, but If you do, you run the risk of getting insulted or slapped (and yes it happens).  The double standard of holding Men accountable for their behavior without also looking at the message their own actions and expectations are sending is wrong.

Women wanted equality.  They got it.

I agree Isabela should be treated with respect.  I don't agree that she has the right to expect it.

I don't see equality. As a guy, I never get sexist comments online, for example; women do constantly, and when I play Starcraft 2 with a female-like nickname, I also get a barrage of dumb comments from horny idiots. Where is equality, exactly? "Equality" only concerns the law; the actual everyday treatment is far from equal. Sure, in some aspects men have it easier, in others women have, but the bottom line is, treatment is far from equal.

Regardless, I think sexism here is merely a side effect. The core of the issue is people who haven't learned to live in a civilized society, who lack respect for fellow human beings and who think that the world revolves around them and everyone else doesn't matter. These fools have existed for as long as humanity has, so, like I said, one just has to learn to ignore them and move on, there isn't much else to be done. happy.png

A man is in the vast majority of cases naturally much bigger and much stronger than a woman.

That is why society reacts very differently when they see a man hitting a woman and a woman hitting a man.

When man hits a woman he can do a lot of damage and she can't protect herself. That is why everybody suddenly helps the woman.

When woman hits a man (Unless she is a trained fighter or some shit like that) people consider that she won't do any significant damage and the man can perfectly defend himself.

Why dont people see either as a 'person' and not as a 'woman' or 'man'.Thats how equality works does'nt it? and it should be.Otherwise its a sexist society.

Maaaaany historical and cultural reasons. In ideal world, it should be exactly as you described, and it is like this for some people - but the society as a whole, probably, will never (or, at least, not in our lifetime) reach that point.

Is equality good or bad?

No need for society's help,f!##@ society and equality. If a woman brings the fight to you fight back, knock her teeth deep down her throat, escape from the scene before the society catches you.Problem solved and case closed.Next day police will be at your door step.Deal with it like a man.If its prison next then so be it.What a life a man can have. Now that's how equality goes.

In most cases people refer to somebody as a "person", but you have to accept the fact that there are many differences between a man and a woman.
