Custom Chess Positions for Tournaments and Games

People playing with Kings Gambit are used to this position. You have to analyze all the variations under Kings Gambit Declined and Falkbeer Counter Gambit for better variations with the Black. The main idea in KG is to give up the f pawn for better attack.

I played this idea because my opponent almost automatically plays the c5 - e6 - a6 - Qc7 setup.

I can see both sides to the coin. I don't think it is a terrible move. I think it is a reasonable move.

But, this is not the purpose of this discussion. The purpose of this discussion is that if you want to start a game with a custom position (rather than agree to a bunch of pre-moves), you can.
I am asking for chess.com to implement a code that would allow for games to be started with a custom position (legally achieved from the standard starting position). This way players can explore games they have played with friends, or perhaps want to hash out a position from a recent WC game. This would even allow for games to be started in custom endgame positions.
Since this suggestion would fit in the vein of quite a few areas for chess.com, I placed this topic in the General section.
I suggested this idea a few years back when I began to create lots of opening groups, and I felt it would be highly beneficial and welcomed. I was met with an understandle "this would be a big undertaking to handle". I would like to revisit the idea and see if players are interested in such an idea today, and see if we can ask staff to consider this approach once again.
The idea is simple. I could illustrate this a lot of ways, but let's use a couple of different scenarios to show how this idea can be beneficial for the enterprising gamer.
#1 - Revisit ideas in former chess games, beginning at the moment a questionable move was played.
So let's say that your team was playing another team, and at move 15 the other team made a questionable move that altered the rest of the game for their detriment. If both teams wish to revisit this game at that moment and allow the team to make a better move and try for the point, this would be one advantage to this idea. Granted, not every team is going to agree to this, giving their opponent a chance to try a better idea. However, for those who value chess exploration and finding better ideas, I think it is worthwhile.
#2 - Revisiting games played in tournaments (both personal and GM level)
Let's say you played an amazing new idea at last weekend's tournament, uncorking a new idea at move 15 in a position, and you want to play this position against your friend. You could set up the idea on the chessboard and play a couple of games, discussing ideas and such.
This could be useful to even discuss endgames, for players who want to set up interesting endgames from personal games, or from games played by their favorite grandmasters.
How would chess.com be able to implement this idea? Right now chess.com has a feature that allows you to reach positions - let's try one "novelty" I uncorked against my good friend a few years back:
I am willing to sacrifice my f-pawn for quick development. When I played this idea, my opponent declined my invitation, which still gave me a reasonable position with attacking chances. Right now, chess.com does not allow for games to be played with custom positions, but this would enable players to do just that!
I would like for the site to revisit this concept and hopefully add this idea to the rest of the amazing ideas that make this a great site.
