Both had such an inflated ego, and even if it was only a friendly game they would take it very seriously and would get very mad if they lost.
They prefered to not take that risk and keep believing that they are the greatest chess players in history.
1-Yes, i just expressed myself quickly, I thought "maybe a tiny chance in a long term..." finally they all are chess passionates and humans, they both rejected their jewishness and F.rejected that his mom was pro-communist (?) .
2-I know they disliked each other , Fischer was often very childish in manners and K. didnt' liked this, he was probably much more an down-to-earth person than F. ; and they came from two way too different worlds, I suppose Kasparov saw him as a simple-minded American baby with easy-life and Fischer maybe still just saw him as a bad Russian to defeat (??) (F.was also paranoïd against communism).
And chess was like a superiority-war between the 2 empires-regimes
