Hello!
Is a lichess rating of ( for example ) 1600 better than a chess.com rating of 1600?
Is a chess.com rating of 1600 better than a lichess rating of 1600?
Are both ratings the same level?

This question is asked so many times. Lichess rating is above chess.com rating by 200 - 500 rating as long the information I have seen from members.

My coach says, lichens is 300 pts too high and chess.com is 100 pts too low

Exactly. See some examples of different members rating in chess.com compared to Lichess:

lichess has way lesser players than chess.com so it wouldnt be too hard for you to climb up the ladder and get a high rating

Avatar of JoshPrice

Lichess ratings vary from person to person compared to chess.com rating, but no, they won't be the same. 1600 rapid chess.com is more like 1800-1950 lichess. as you go higher in the rating ladder on lichess it becomes closer though

not really, a 1600 here can beat any lichess 1600 user and same applies up to roughly 2000

Payed chess.com is superior to lichess. It's a different formula (glicko 1 vs glicko 2). Lichess uses the better model (defined by how accurate it predicts results). In a nutshell Lichess will be higher until rating 2100 or so.

Yep, my friend was rated 1600 at Lichess while rated 900 on chess.com

Different rating systems, different playing pools, so there cannot be any direct comparison.

You can roughly assume that the info at #21 is right, but there is no proof for this.

A whole 400 rating difference I seen it myself got to 1300 on blitz on lichess but 700 here on chess.com

Avatar of Chest909Alt

chess.com ratings are far harder to get, more so at the lower ratings, seems around 2400 they start to balance out. Lichess ratings seem harder at the very highest ratings, but this could be partly due to lack of competition. Someone rated 2700 on lichess will find it hard find opponents to significantly increase their rating with.
