Im not sure about other countries, but in england there are examination centres where u play pieces, scales and a few exercises and get given a pass, merit or distinction

Cos i always get distinctions in practical exams but i barely pass in theory exams

I used to play a bit of classical guitar garnished with some Spanish and a dash of flamenco, but I've lost interest long ago. Occasionally I'll mangle a bouree (BWV 996 if memory serves) that I particularly like, but it's a once a year sort of thing.
What are these grades that you speak of?
