Chess, in my opinion, is a sport. In this world, many people consider sport to be only physical, but I and many others believe that there is a mental aspect related to it. Basically, there is mental and physical sport, and chess is a mental sport, not a taco 😂.

The IOC defines sport as an activity that involves a competition between two or more individuals or teams, governed by rules and customs, and recognized as a sport by the international community. So, while chess may not involve physical exertion, it does involve mental exertion.

But they don't. Most chess players do not consider chess a sport. The percentage of chess players considering chess a sport is probably higher than the general public, but both groups agree it's not a sport.
Both groups agree it's a game, it's competitive, there can be teams, and it takes skill. But because chess players find chess difficult, they can sometimes believe that makes it a sport. The general public understands that mental effort does not equate to sport. Which is why doing taxes and SAT tests are not sports.

Its still Esport i mean if a pro gamer finish playing and ran away it doesnt mean its a sport because its not involved in the actual game its outside of it
